CARNIVAL, was so much fun!! Thank you to the Upper School students for putting on such a fabulous one!  Please remember that this was the day that Roycemore celebrated Halloween.  October 31 is a normal day at school. Please do not send any costumes.  

ROYCEMORE FALL OPEN HOUSE TODAY, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29: 1:00-3:00 . Please make sure to refer a friend, family member or acquaintance to come and see our excellent school where every child is challenged and not bored. Everyone is invited to come today. If they cannot, they can contact Amanda Avery, Director of Admissions at aavery@roycemoreschool.org for a personal tour.

CONFERENCES, November 1, 2 and 3. I hope you all have signed up for your conferences. If you have not please do so. If you need the link again, please email me. We are all looking forward to share your children's triumphs and challenges. There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday November 3 for conferences and EDP is NOT available.

ISACS CONFERENCE, November 10 . Roycemore is so lucky to belong to ISACS, the Independent School Association for the Central States. They are our accrediting board, and they provide excellent professional development for our teachers. This year the ISACS conference is in Chicago, and all of our teachers will be attending it. Therefore there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday November 10, so they can all attend and learn wonderful new research, strategies, and information to bring back to your children. EDP will NOT be available.

Put GRANDPARENTS DAY, NOVEMBER 21, on your calendar. It is such a special day. There will be a performance by all the Lower School children, including our youngest ones, and then a visit to their classrooms for fun activities.

Lego Club will meet Monday, October 30 in the First Grade Classroom from 3:15-4:00. 
STEAM will meet Monday, October 30 in the LS Art Room from 3:15-4:00. 
Martial Arts will meet Tuesday, October 31 in the Multi Purpose Room from 3:15-4:00.
Sprout will meet Tuesday October 31 in the LS Art Room 118 from 3:15-5:15.
Creative Improv will meet Wednesday, November 1 in the Lower School Music Room from 3:15-4:00.
Cross Country will NOT meet Wednesday, November 1 because of conferences.

PUMPKIN CARVING NIGHT was amazing!
This is one of Lower School's favorite events.  We all had dinner, chose a pumpkin, carved a wonderful jack-o-lantern, and enjoyed each other's company.  It was so much fun to see our Third and Fourth Graders carry in all the pumpkins.  Thank you to all the parents that decorated so beautifully for the event, and to those who were on the break-down and clean-up crew.  We couldn't have done it without you!



CARNIVAL, Friday, October 27: One of the best days of the year will happen on Friday, October 27.  This is the day that we all don our costumes and celebrate Halloween.  The best part of the day is CARNIVAL!  This is when the Upper School puts on a carnival or fun fair for the Lower and Middle School students. Please clip on this link Carnival Information You are all welcome to join your children at this fun event. Please send in $10.00 to buy tickets so your children can play all the games.  Your classroom teachers will be sending home information of class parties.

    PUMPKIN CARVING NIGHT is Friday October 20 from 5:30-7:00.
This is one of Lower School's favorite events.  We all have dinner, choose a pumpkin, carve a wonderful jack-o-lantern, and enjoy each other's company. I know you will all have a wonderful time, eating dinner, carving pumpkins with your children and interacting with each other. We hope to see everyone there!

   1. The pre-kindergarten class had a science lesson where they put in baking soda and vinegar and saw a "chemical reaction" as a pumpkin erupted.




2.  The second graders have been working on sequencing stories using transition words. 

3. The Junior Kindergarteners and the Kindergarteners went on a field trip to the Grove for their Pumpkin Patch activities. What fun they all had.

Although the older children usually go to the park for recess, they also have a ball on our playground.




The Pre-Kindergarteners have had a ball with their pumpkin unit besides learning so much!




At Roycemore, we use the greater community to enrich our curriculum. Field trips are enriching and fun!

CROSS COUNTRY: The next Cross Country meet will be the Chiaravalle Montessori Cross Country Meet, Sunday, October 15th, at Elliot Park in Evanston with Grades 1 & 2 running at 8:00 a.m., and 3rd & 4th running at 8:15 a.m.

1. In their study of the farm, the Junior Kindergarteners were learning how to "milk a cow!"  

  2. The Second Graders are excited to go on their first field trip of the year to the Grove to enhance their study of Native Americans.

3. The First Graders are continuing their study of weather events. Tsunamis were this lesson's discussion and creative interpretation. 


  4. The Junior Kindergarten students had so much fun at their "pajama party." They even baked pumpkin muffins.

5. The K-Kids love Kindergarten because they have so much fun while they are learning.
