LEADERSHIP WEEK was wonderful.  This is the week we really focused on what it takes to be a good leader through our LEADER IN ME program. The teachers did many activities to accentuate the Seven Habits and what it takes to be a leader.  The most important part of the Leader in Me program is to integrate it as part of the culture of Lower School.  As example of this is this picture of work that the second graders were being asked to do.  Look at the top, and you will see one of the habits listed.

We hope to see you this Tuesday, October 3, 2017. It is PREVIEW NIGHT.  Because we know we are a community of planners, we are holding this early this year. This is the night you get to meet your children's teachers for next year and hear all about the exciting curriculum, projects and activities that they are planning for them. We are all so proud of our amazing faculty and I know you will be too. For Grades PK-Gr. 3, please be at school from 5:30-6:30.  Grade 4 students will come with their parents at 6:30, where they will meet with the Middle School faculty. We will be providing childcare as we did for Miniature School. If you are needing childcare, please contact me, as I need a count for the pizza.

Put October 20 on your calendar: It is PUMPKIN CARVING NIGHT
This is one of Lower School's favorite events.  We all have dinner, choose a pumpkin, carve a wonderful jack-o-lantern, and enjoy each other's company. For more information, please click on this link Pumpkin Carving Night Flyer

CROSS COUNTRY: The next Cross Country meet will be the Chiaravalle Montessori Cross Country Meet, Sunday, October 15th, at Elliot Park in Evanston with Grades 1 & 2 running at 8:00 a.m., and 3rd & 4th running at 8:15 a.m.

PICTURES THIS WEEK: I will be putting a lot of pictures on the blog at different places, but there will always be more at the bottom of the blog.

1. Fall has arrived! Making a leaf pile at recess tells us that!
2.  In this picture, a third grader was truly being a leader as he was helping a first grader learn how to bat!
3. The first grade was challenged to build a structure that would withstand a "hurricane".

As usual, if you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to call or e-mail me.

Look for our leadership tree by the Dining Hall and read how our students act as leaders.

As the Leaders of Lower School, the Fourth Graders are leading our Monday Morning Meeting every week. They have created a Seven Habits Pledge for all of us to take.
